Step 1:
Head over to
Capterra and click on the “Software Categories” section. (For context, Capterra is a platform that connects B2B software vendors with buyers through reviews and service listings.) You’ll find a massive directory of software reviews and services to explore.
Step 2:
Choose a category that interests you. For example, I went with “Nutritionist Software.” This will display a variety of products you can potentially promote as an affiliate.
Step 3:
Next, select a product and search for it on Google. For instance, I chose “Healthie.” While searching, check to see if there are any ads running for that product. For example, when you search for “Healthie” on Google, you’ll notice there aren’t any ads displayed for it.
Step 4:
Once you confirm there’s no existing competition, look up whether the product has an affiliate program. Use a search query like “product name + affiliate program.” For example, you’d search for “Healthie affiliate program.” In this case, Healthie does have a referral program, so you’re in luck!
Step 5:
Join the affiliate program for your selected product and create ads targeting the product’s name on Google. For example, bid on terms like “get Healthie” or simply “Healthie.”
When someone searches for the product’s name, your ad will appear at the top of Google’s search results. Since these users are already interested in the product, they are highly likely to take action and make a purchase. The best part? With no competition bidding on the product name, you’ll enjoy a monopoly on this potential traffic.

Check Traffic Volume: Ensure that the product name has sufficient search volume. Ideally, aim for 500+ searches per month, though you can start with 200+ as well. Use keyword research tools like
Wordstream or Google’s
Keyword Planner.

Brand Bidding Rules: Verify if the product owner allows brand bidding in their affiliate program. This information is usually available in the program’s terms and conditions. Based on my experience, 70-80% of products listed on Capterra allow brand bidding.
